
Calendula & Manuka Honey Healing Balm

Whether you're dealing with dry patches, chapped lips, minor scrapes, or post-garden hands, this balm is your skin’s new best friend. Crafted in small batches with love and intention, it’s free from synthetic preservatives and packed with nature’s goodness.
Practical yield
After pouring and setting, you can expect around 300–320 ml of balm. Of course, you can scale the ingredients up or down.
This will fill roughly:
6 × 50 ml jars/tins, or
3 × 100 ml jars/tins, or
A mix of sizes depending on your containers
Equipment
Double boiler (or heat-proof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water)
Clean, dry jars or tins for storage
Stirring spoon (preferably stainless steel or glass)
Labels and a pen
Calendula Oil Ingredients
20 g dried calendula petals
250 ml olive oil (or enough to cover the petals)
Balm Ingredients
250 ml Calendula oil (see below for how to make)
50 g Natural beeswax
25 g Medicinal manuka honey (UMF 10+ or higher recommended)
30 Drops of Vitamin E oil (added during the cooling phase)
How to make Calendula Oil
Infused oil is the heart of this balm. Here’s how to prepare it.
Method
Place the 20 g dried calendula petals in a clean, dry glass jar.
Pour 250 ml of olive oil over the petals until completely submerged.
Seal the jar and place it in a warm, sunny spot (like a windowsill).
Let it infuse for 2–4 weeks, shaking gently every few days.
After infusion, strain the oil through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean container. Store in a cool, dark place.
Your calendula oil is ready for balm making!

How to Make Calendula & Manuka Honey Balm
Method
Combine 250 ml calendula oil and 50 g beeswax in a double boiler.
Heat gently, stirring occasionally, until the beeswax fully melts.
Remove from heat. Let the mixture cool slightly (around 40°C / 104°F warm but not hot to the touch).
Stir in 25 g of manuka honey until fully incorporated.
Add the Vitamin E oil during this cooling phase and stir gently.
Pour the warm balm into clean jars or tins.
Allow to set at room temperature until firm.
Once set, label each jar with:
The product name (e.g. Calendula & Manuka Honey Balm)
The date it was made
Optional: a best-before date (see below)
Seal jars or tins with lids and store in a cool, dark place.
Shelf Life & Storage
Shelf life: Up to 6–12 months if stored properly in a cool, dark place and kept free from moisture contamination.
Signs of spoilage: Change in smell, texture, or appearance (e.g. mould or rancid scent).
Using clean, dry fingers or a spatula when applying the balm helps prolong its freshness.
Suggested Use
Apply a small amount to clean, dry skin. Gently massage into the area until absorbed.

Minor scrapes, grazes, and irritation
Chapped lips or hands
Post-tattoo care or windburn
Use 1–3 times daily as needed.
Safety Information
For external use only.
Patch test before first use: Apply a small amount to the inner wrist or elbow and wait 24 hours. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
Avoid contact with eyes. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
Do not apply to deep wounds, active infections, or severe burns.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Keep out of reach of children.
Not suitable for individuals with known allergies to Asteraceae plants (e.g. marigolds, daisies) or bee products.
